On a Sunday evening in July, 30 visitors attended a special Kinfolk Magazine Workshop at the Farm at Goodstone and learned what is involved in keeping bees. (Kinfolk Magazine is a quarterly magazine that emphasizes small gatherings, simple living and quality time shared with friends and family.)
For this event, Goodstone also partnered with Rebecca Gallop from adailysomething.com, Sweet Root Village, and Knead and Know, who provided the incredible bread that was served with local honey!
Rebecca set up a beautiful array of snacks to try with local honey. Guests (including lots of bloggers and photographers) sat around our table and introduced ourselves. Everyone relaxed, chatted and sampled the delicious snacks. Then everyone walked down to the farm area.
Goodstone’s Farm Gardener Meredith Kope told guests about Goodstone and what we do here with our farm program. She discussed how she was a first-year beekeeper and how she got started. Meredith described the daily tasks involved with keeping bees. Because the event focused on harvesting honey, she spoke in-depth about the harvesting process.
People lingered to talk about beekeeping and gardening until well after 9:00pm. All and all, it was a spectacular event!
